York, PA – For DirecTV subscribers, Friday could be the last day to catch a WGAL-TV broadcast. Hearst Television and DirecTV are negotiating a contract renewal aimed at keeping the satellite system’s subscribers tuned into WGAL’s signal, said Paul Quinn, general manager of WGAL.

On October 30, 2008, WOWT-TV debuted its new, updated studio. The updated studio featured two dozen flat-panel televisions, according to 6 News 10 at ten co-anchor Tracy Madden. Although the remodel took a little less than a month, the transformation is significant. The studio features a new anchor desk with computers built into it, allowing breaking news to be broadcast immediately. Also, the new WOWT dot com center shows the station's website. A new weather center and sports desk complete the new, fresh look. The WOWT staff mentioned include John Knicely, Tracy Madden, Justin Joseph, Jim Flowers, Dave Weber, and Brian Mastre.
