Schaal made five ads for these fancy phones, and once you get past the sales talk, they’re surprisingly nutty and enjoyable. For future reference, large corporations do now allow you to CGI your head on a little person’s body in their ads. (Three more ads can be found here .) You can expect Albuquerque to get a little more crowded by this weekend. About 30000 people have purchased tickets for the fifth annual New Mexico Bowl on Saturday between BYU and UTEP. If, over the next few days, ticket sales exceed 34000, it will be the Bowl's biggest year to date. Players and fans add up to equal big money for local businesses this week. Last year, direct visitor spending was estimated at just over a million dollars. The Italian restaurant chain Buca Di Beppo in Uptown is getting ready for hundreds of more people and double the sales through the weekend. “We give samples outside the door, because there are so many people trying to get in the doors. There's not an empty table in the place,” says Michelle Garcia, sales manager of Buca di Beppo. The teams will be playing in front of a national audience of millions on Saturday. “To have a four hour commercial on a bright, sunny day with no other game against it – the exposure we've gotten with the TV ratings over the years has been tremendous,” says Jeff Siembieda, Executive Director, New Mexico Bowl. The game is at a time when the tourist season in Albuquerque is at its slowest, giving local businesses a welcome boost. “I think we've proven over the years that this is an event that is an annual piece of what we do in New Mexico,” adds Siembieda.

BIT. I KEPT TALKING ON THE AIR ABOUT WHAT THIS BILL WAS DOING. I WAS LOOKING FOR A POSITIVE ECONOMIC SIGN. YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED? ONE MONTH THE RETAIL PICTURE WENT UP, RETAIL SALES WERE UP. ONE MONTH, MAYBE TWO. ISRAELI IT WAS ONE. — AS I RECALL, IT WAS ONE. NOW COMES THE NEXT ONE, FOR HOW MUCH MONEY? $750 BILLION. AND WHAT DID GOVERNMENT DO? THEY HAVE NO IDEA. THEY HAVE NO CONTROL. THEY JUST GIVE MONEY TO SOMEBODY WITH NO — HERE, TAKE THE MONEY. NO CONTROLS WHATSOEVER. I'VE OFTEN …

RAPAPORT… Super Saturday' retail sales fell 12.6 percent compared with 2008, says ShopperTrak and foot traffic fell by 12.4 percent. ShopperTraks National Retail Sales Estimate (NRSE) reported that total GAFO retail sales for December 19, the final Saturday before Christmas fell sharply. Both yearly sales and traffic fell significantly on Super Saturday as the large storm that wreaked havoc in parts of the Midwest and on the Eastern seaboard kept consumers indoors on what is traditionally …
