Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords just entered the House of Representatives to officially resign from her position after a vote on her final piece of legislation. The bill gives the federal government more authority to combat cross-border drug trafficking, the Washington Post reports. “Giffords and a fellow Arizona lawmaker, Rep. Gabby Giffords embodies the very best of what public service should be. She’s universally admired for qualities that transcend party or ideology – a dedication to fairness, a willingness to listen to different ideas, and a tireless commitment to the work of perfecting our union. That’s why the people of Arizona chose Gabby – to speak and fight and stand up for them. That’s what brought her to …

I do not own this video or images. Posted under Fair Use. I posted this for historical purposes only. In Honor of the 1177 American lives lost on board the USS Arizona (BB-39) on December 7, 1941. USS Arizona (BB-39) was a Pennsylvania-class battleship of the United States Navy and the first to be named “Arizona”. On March 4, 1913, Congress authorized the construction of Arizona, named to honor the 48th state's admission into the union on 14 February 1912. The ship was the second and last of the Pennsylvania class of “super-dreadnought” battleships. Her keel was laid at the Brooklyn Navy Yard on 16 March 1914. She was launched on 19 June 1915, sponsored by Esther Ross, the daughter of a prominent Arizona pioneer, WW Ross of Prescott, Arizona. I want to pay tribute to those men who gave their lives while serving aboard the USS Arizona on that day. Seeing in this video the cabins and state rooms 65 plus years later just as they were on that fateful day brings strong emotion in me. This ship is not just a bunch of B+W images in a book but a REAL place where men lived, worked, and died.
