bit.ly ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A C-17 military cargo plane with four aboard crashed and burned Wednesday night at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. The Air Force confirmed that the C-17 was assigned to Elmendorf's 3rd Wing and crashed at about 6:14 pm local time while on a local training mission, said KTUU-TV. Initial reports indicated the plane had crashed into a wooded area about two miles north and east of the runway, said the Daily News. The plane apparently was headed east off Runway 5 and was banking left, to the north, when it went down. There was no immediate word on casualties. Military police refused to comment. A board of officers will investigate the crash. One anonymous witness told the Daily News the aircraft appeared to be doing maneuvers as if it were practicing for the Arctic Thunder air show and open house this weekend. watch the video here bit.ly
